Lord, take control of our schools

Today's Devotion, Lord, take control of our schools. I recently saw a video of two schoolboys holding the hands of another over a rail. They were at the top floor and they were about to drop him several feet. Below him was the staircase and letting him go would have let him fall on the stairs and not on a flat surface.

What was disturbing is that the person who was recording it was laughing as if he was watching a comedy. It was obvious that the boy was terrified and as soon as they let him go and he fell on the ground, the video ended. Situations like these must have serious consequences because their idleness could have taken someone else's life or put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

People don't send their child to school to end up in a hospital and no one wants to hear that their child is dead because of idleness. I saw another video of a schoolgirl threatening a female student in front of the girl's mother. What got my attention was hearing her say, your mother being here doesn't stop me from doing what I want to do.

This irritated her mother and a fight started between both the child and her mother. My brothers and sisters in Christ, not disciplining a child at five-year-old will show when they get older. If you don't want people talking about how bad your child is, teach your child to act better.

In Proverbs 13 verse 24 it is written, whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. We are all children of God and if God disciplined his children, why are we afraid of disciplining ours? The things that you tolerate will continue and whatever continues will come with embarrassment and disgrace. Punishment controls behavior from the outside and discipline builds control on the inside.

Heavenly Father, we pray for the children who have been influenced by the wrong company. In Jeremiah 31 verse 16 to 17 it is written, refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears. For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy.

Lord, break every chain holding them back from giving their life to you. Surround them with wise, godly influences and bring them back to the foundation of love they were taught. Please grant the frustrated parents the strength to let go of worrying and replace it with worshiping. And we thank you for fixing the problems the way that you see best.

All these I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
