Shepherds protect God's sheep
Today's Devotion, Shepherds protect God's sheep. The grace of God is not a reason to neglect the standards of God. Don't suppress the truth of God's word in your life in order to be loved and accepted by wicked people who don't even like you. Beware of the shepherd who misleads the sheep and sugarcoat God's words.
Some people will start a church under a tent all because they want to live in a mansion. Be careful not to hurt God's flock by giving them the devil's advice while you claim to be doing God's work. Every leader sets an example for better or worse and when their example is not up to God's standards, they are opening up a floodgate of destruction on those for whom Jesus died.
In Acts 20 verse 28 it is written, Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. You cannot neglect the flock and expect to benefit from God's blessing. Such shepherds do not have the heart of God and rather than protecting the sheep, they are leading them to slaughter.
I recently saw a video of two pastors exchanging a war of words and I found it very distasteful. How can they be shepherds doing God's work and are fighting over the sheep? In 2 Corinthians 5 verse 10 it is written, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. My brothers and sisters in Christ, whatever conflict we have with each other must be done privately, not publicly.
No matter how high and mighty we may think we are, if we are too high, God will bring us down to reality. We are all sinners, the shepherd and the sheep, and God is the judge that looks down on all of us. You will either receive his blessings or you will receive his wrath.
Heavenly Father, your word says Jesus is the good shepherd. I pray that those who you have given the responsibility to lead the flock will take a page from his book. The road of righteousness should never be a war zone between people on the same side.
It should be a war between good and evil. Lord, I pray for those who are in similar situations so that they can see these things are not good in your eyes, and we call upon you to fix it the best way you can, so that the sheep does not stray and is devoured by the devil.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
