Prayer Against Backsliding. Heavenly Father, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have walked away from the Church. Whatever has caused them to walk away from the road of righteousness, I call upon you, my Lord and my Savior, to intervene and remove every distraction that has contributed to them to rekindle their sinful life. The prodigal son was a child of God who wandered into willful disobedience, riotous living, and spiritual destitution.

But that didn't prevent his father from forgiving him. In Jeremiah 3 verse 22 it is written, Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding. Indeed, we do come to you, for you are the Lord our God.

Lord, help them to learn from the wrong choices that they have made, the wrong partner that they have gotten involved with, and the ungodly lifestyle that they have indulged in. In James 5 verse 19 to 20 it is written, Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. Lord, I pray that they will repent from their sins, because you are faithful and just, and you will forgive us the same way that you forgave the prodigal son.

In Proverbs 24 verse 16 it is written, For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. Father, remove the spirit of pride and worldly desires from their lives, and bring them back into the arms of Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for giving them the strength so that they will not yield to temptation.

Help them to seek your guidance when the devil is trying to distract them, and remove every bad influence that is determined to pull them out of the church.

All these we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
