Today's Devotion, Lord, remove greed from our heart. Kindness can open the door to your blessing, but selfishness can close it. Some people will only be kind to others when they are sure that it will come back to them.
Helping someone may not change the world, but it can change the world for someone. Even when we show kindness to others, there are some people who will take advantage of our kindness. Always implement wisdom in every decision that you make.
The calmness of a bee will make it more tolerable than the annoyance of a fly. God has a way of exposing greedy people whose aim is to take advantage of your kindness. Greed will let some people go to the extreme to get what they want.
God endorses kindness, but he does not tolerate greed. My brothers and sisters in Christ, greed leads to ruin, destruction, and conflict. It can cause people to act selfishly, oppress the poor, and compromise their integrity.
Corruption and ungratefulness are not friends of kindness, but they are close friends to greed. Greed can be the unwillingness to give or the refusal to share. In Luke 12 verse 15 it is written, Then he said to them, Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.
Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. In Proverbs 13 verse 11 it is written, Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow. In Mark 8 verse 36 it is written, What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Heavenly Father, regardless of what we may have on earth, these things are temporary because our hoses and our cars cannot fit into our coffin.
Lord, break every spirit of greed and selfishness because a heart that has a desire for the things of the world will never find its way into heaven. Lord, help us to have a willingness to share with those who are in need and remind us that life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. Lord, destroy the plans of those who are using dishonesty to deprive people of their hard-earned money so that they can change their ungodly attitude and repent.
Thank you, Lord, for providing for us and protecting us so that the devil does not deceive us.
All these we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
