Today's Devotion, Drop the things that take us away from God. Every chapter has an end, and not all stories have a happy ending. Every journey starts with a single step, but if you do not have the determination to continue, you may never reach your destination.
Life comes with ups and downs. It comes with good times and bad times. Life teaches us many lessons, and there are some lessons that we will never forget.
It teaches us the things that we should drop and the things that we should hold on to. Drop the negative people around you and hold on to those who are God-fearing, who always have words of upliftment. Drop trying to please everyone because you cannot please the wicked and expect to receive the blessings from God.
Drop worrying about the future and put your problems in God's hand. In Matthew 6 verse 34 it is written, Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Drop thinking about the mistakes you have made, because some people do not live to regret the mistakes that they have made. In Proverbs 24 verse 6 it is written, For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Drop the things that are keeping you away from God, because the sweeter the sin, the further you will stay from Him.
Do not find God conveniently because of natural disasters and then go back to your sinful lifestyle. Heavenly Father, in 2 Timothy 3 verse 1 to 5 it is written, This now also, that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from such turn away. Lord, disobedience will cause some of us to walk away from righteousness and continue to live their lives in sinfulness.
We pray for those who are around the wrong people, who are pulling them deeper into sin all because of their circumstances. Merciful God, in 2 Peter 3 verse 9 it is written, The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
