Lord, help us to accept your timing
Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to accept your timing. Rush and hurry are two spirits that are close to the devil, but not of God. Rushing is the opposite of patience, which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Rushing breaks peace and it also disturbs divine timing. Don't rush things, when the time is right it will happen. It's always better to wait on God's perfect timing than to rush things and wish you could turn back the hands of time.
An ambulance that is rushing can save someone's life, but it isn't the speed of the ambulance that saved the person's life, it's God's intervention that did it because He specializes in working miracles. God is not in a hurry, but the devil is. In Isaiah 59 verse 70 is written, Their feet run into sin, they are swift to shed innocent blood, they pursue evil schemes, acts of violence mark their ways.
Hurrying to catch a business before they close or hurrying to avoid bumper to bumper traffic has caused many persons to have accidents or lose their lives. We have developed the habit of rushing God, especially when we are faced with a deadline. Never rush God when you are on the verge of starting a relationship or to get married.
Some people are good at covering their faults, but God has a way of exposing them when you least expect it. Making financial commitments cannot be done in a rush, especially when you are forced to take out a loan. God knows why He delays things, all we need is to do is to trust Him.
An hour will not move faster even though we want to accomplish more things in it. One of our biggest mistakes is to do things ourselves because we do not have the patience to wait on God. In Galatians 7 verse 22 it is written, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, do not rush into marriage because there are people who have motives. In Proverbs 19 verse 2 it is written, Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way. Heavenly Father, help us not to be influenced by our emotions, but lead us to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
In Proverbs 21 verse 5 it is written, The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Lord, many times our impatience will cause us to rush and make decisions that we will regret. Instead of waiting for your timing to fix our problems, we allow anxiety to take control of our mind.
Help us, Lord, not to be led to run ahead of you and let our impatience lead us down the wrong road of regret. Teach us to be still and help us to trust your perfect timing and walk calmly in your grace today.
