Lord, give us a heart of compassion

Today's Devotion, Lord, give us a heart of compassion. Be careful of what you record and be careful of the words you speak.

No one wants to see their loved ones in bits and pieces all over the road on social media. Some people would never use their vehicle to take someone to the hospital, but they are eager to take pictures of someone who is in pain lying on the ground. There are some people who wouldn't want this to happen to their family, but they are eager to do this to others.

I recently saw a police officer changing the tire of a lady on a busy road and everyone passed and he didn't get their attention. If he was seen putting a handcuff on that lady because she was driving a stolen vehicle, there would be people seen taking pictures of her in handcuffs. Be careful of what you speak, especially when you do not know the facts.

A court cannot find a person guilty because of assumptions, guesses, or rumors. My brothers and sisters in Christ, choose your words wisely and be careful of what you utter from your mouth because a running mouth can get you in deep trouble. In Matthew 12 verse 37 it is written, for by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned.

If you are consistently mocked by people because you are doing good to others, God's word will give you the courage to continue. In 2nd Thessalonians 3 verse 13 it is written, and as for you brothers and sisters, never tire for doing what is good. Do not be influenced to follow the crowd because there are people in the crowd who don't have a clue where they are going.

Heavenly Father, we live in a world where people are more interested in getting likes on social media instead of helping others. In Psalm 1 verse 1 it is written, blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers. Merciful Father, the things that you stand for is the things that many of us don't do.

All because we are influenced by getting likes on social media. No one wants to see gruesome bodies of their loved ones because they will have a picture of that memory in their mind for the rest of their life. Lord, give us the strength to object to the things that are wrong, even if it may affect our friendships.

In Exodus 23 verse 2 it is written, do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd. Lord, grant us the discernment to avoid the people who will influence us to do the wrong things, and surround us with wise, supportive, and godly people who will lift us up.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
