Lord, help us not to be disobedient

Today's Devotion, Lord, help us not to be disobedient. The devil hates our obedience to God because he rebelled against God's authority and he opposes to anything that brings glory to the Creator. For us to be obedient to God, we must first stay away from the things that will cause us to be disobedient to Him.

One of the biggest challenges that contributes to our disobedience is our pride. I remember God telling me that I should send a message forgiving those persons who I secretly hated because of the things that they have done to me. It wasn't an easy task, even though it didn't come with a physical weight, it came with an emotional weight that came in the mindset of my pride.

I had a choice to make. Allow my pride to contribute to my disobedience or remove my pride and be obedient to God. I chose to remove my pride because if you put your pride before God, the consequence may be more than you expect.

Be honest about your weaknesses. God will help you to overcome them all so that you can serve Him well. In Psalm 145 verse 18 to 19 it is written, The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.

He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him. He hears their cry and saves them. My brothers and sisters in Christ, when God wanted to make a king out of David, He didn't bring him a crown, He brought him Goliath.

Do not allow the Goliath that you face cause you to be disobedient to God or the apology that you refuse to make cause you to fall out of grace with God. Obedience is the key to God's heart and disobedience is the key that leads you to hell. Heavenly Father, we thank you for opening our eyes to the consequences of disobedience.

Give us the strength not to allow our pride to make our decisions. In Exodus 19 verse 5 it is written, Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession, although the whole earth is mine. Lord, help us to hate pride the way that you do and give us the wisdom to do the things that please you.

Lord, remove disobedience from our mind and replace it with obedience so that we will continue to do the things that are pleasing to you.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
