Today's Devotion, There are times when God goes silent. God teaches us and builds a relationship with us in different ways. God may go silent when we need him most.
This is why we should never be too busy for God because when the tables turn, it can be very uncomfortable. We need God more than he needs us. We are the sheep and he is our shepherd.
If it wasn't for God's protection, the devil would deceive us and pull us deeper into sin. When God goes silent, he has his reasons for doing it. It may be his way of testing our faith.
In Psalm 9 verse 9 to 10 it is written, The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, and those who know your name put their trust in you. For you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who need you. When God goes silent, he may be breaking self-reliance.
In Proverbs 3 verse 5 to 6 it is written, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your path straight. When God goes silent, he may be calling us to repentance.
Are your actions and your words on the same page? In Isaiah 59 verse 1 to 2 it is written, Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor is ear too dull to hear, but your iniquities have separated you from your God. Your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear. God's silence can cause us to strengthen our obedience or it may be to produce our humility.
In Psalm 128 verse 1 it is written, Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. And in Micah 6 verse 8 it is written, He has shown you, O mortal, what is good and what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Heavenly Father, when you are silent, give us the strength to stand firm on your words and give us the wisdom not to indulge in the things that will not please you.
The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. Help us, Lord, during your silence to examine ourselves so that your silence isn't because of our disobedience.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
