Beware of the spirit of control

Today's Devotion, Beware of the spirit of control. When someone is overly nice, it can create a sense of obligation where there should be none. Kindness can open the door to your weakness.

We can easily be deceived by someone who is kind, especially when they say things to compliment you privately and publicly. Being nice is not the problem, but being overly nice is. When people are controlling, they have the habit of telling you what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.

Controlling people believe that everyone should do things how they do them or do everything they say. Controlling people are manipulative and, because of their kindness, you feel that everything they say you should do. They will tell you to do things so that you end up being totally dependent on them.

They want access to the personal things that you have, especially if they are insecure. They will tell you the friends that you should cut off all because of jealousy. God has a way of exposing people to us so we can be aware of what we are getting into.

The spirit of control and manipulation is not of God. It is also referred to as the Jezebel spirit. My brothers and sisters in Christ, a controlling spirit kills relationship and it also kills spiritual growth because a controlling person wants you to be totally dependent on them.

In Proverbs 26 verse 24 to 26 it is written, Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their speech is charming. Do not believe them, for seven abominations kill their hearts. Their malice may be concealed by deception.

But their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. And in Romans 8 verse 5 it is written, Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires. But those who live accordance with the spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for opening our eyes to the consequences that comes from a controlling spirit. We pray for those who are in relationships who are manipulated. I bind every negative word spoken over my life and the lives of those who are being controlled by those who have an agenda that is not your plan for us.

I bind every Jezebel spirit and every force of control and intimidation. Lord, whatever evil that they have done to take control of the lives of your people, we call upon you to destroy their plans and cover us under the blood of Jesus.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
