Lord, help us to focus on you and not on our distractions
Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to focus on you and not on our distractions. Beware of the distractions that can cause you to lose your focus. God will distract you in order to protect you, but the devil will distract you in order to destroy you.
Distractions can be used by the enemy to prevent you from completing the mission God has set before you. Distractions can also be used to prevent you from opening your Bible and to keep you from praying. The enemy will use whatever they can to disrupt your God-given assignment.
Once you are too busy or too tired to find time for God, they have accomplished their objective. In 1 Peter 5 verse 8 it is written, Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. My brothers and sisters in Christ, the devil will devour you once he distracts you.
Distractions aim is to delay or derail a person from living out a grounded faith-based life. God has a way of redirecting you to ruin the plans of the enemy. He can use unexpected delays, sudden changes, or closed doors to redirect our steps and keep us from harm.
Do not underestimate the determination of the enemy. They know what to use to distract you. Spending excessive time on phones, social media, being too busy on your job, finding time for friends and your partner.
But you can't find time for God. We need to stop getting distracted by things and people that have nothing to do with our spiritual growth, that can block our blessing. Heavenly Father, we call upon you to remove the distractions that are leading us in the wrong direction.
In Matthew 6 verse 33 it is written, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Lord, we know that the devil will send the wrong people around us in order to let us lose focus. In Psalm 10 verse 4 it is written, The wicked in his proud countenance does not see God.
God is in none of his thoughts. Abba Father, guard our mind from the things that steal our focus, because the enemy has a way of making the wrong things seem right. Lord, give us the wisdom to know the things that we should get close to and the things that we should avoid.
In 1 John 2 verse 15 to 16 it is written, Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world. Lord, we thank you for opening our eyes so that we can avoid our distractions.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
