Lord, intervene in the marriages that needs your attention
Today's Devotion, Lord, intervene in the marriages that needs your attention. While looking through a box with some souvenirs, I came across a desk plaque with these words. Five important things about marriage.
Number one, never be the lifeguard in saving someone else's marriage while your partner is droning in your own. Number two, rejection causes many people to stray but it's affection that convinces them to stay. Number three, where there is no room for compromise, you will definitely find conflict.
Number four, the dirty linen that is washed in private should never be hung out in public. Number five, ensure that God is the captain of your vessel because only he can direct your path. This was written over ten years ago and after showing it to someone, they said, why do I feel that you are speaking to me or someone is telling you something about my marriage? The Lord works in mysterious ways.
He will send a message with a messenger who doesn't have a clue that they are delivering the message. In Philippians 2 verse 13 it is written, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Malice, stubbornness, being spiteful, making decisions by yourself when it should be made by both persons, when your financial priorities are not on the same page, and when you are more interested in taking advice from people and not from your partner are some of the things that can ruin a marriage.
In Ephesians 4 verse 2 to 3 it is written, be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace. Heavenly Father, I speak these words over the marriages that are in need of your intervention.
Marriages aren't always going to go the way that we want it to go. Sometimes it serves as a constant reminder that you need to lean on God for support and understanding, comfort, wisdom, and love. People will not always see eye to eye and sometimes tough love is needed in times of challenges.
God will allow trials to happen so that you can ride out your storm together because with God in the vessel, you can ride out the storm. Lord teach us that true love comes when you are a part of all decisions that are made. Thank you for your presence in overcoming these challenges.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
