Lord, protect us from shame and embarrassment

Today's Devotion, Lord, protect us from shame and embarrassment. Secret sin holds the keys to shame, embarrassment, and guilt. Even when God forgives you of your sins, the devil will always keep reminding you of them. Guilt often motivates us to apologize or make amends.

Shame leads to secrecy, defensiveness, and disconnection from others. Sometimes forgiving yourself isn't easy when you are around people who always keep reminding you of your past. An honest person can be deceived by a thief, but a thief will not trust a liar because some people are so good at telling lies and they are so deceptive that innocent people are behind bars because of their blatant lies.

Learning from your mistakes shows wisdom, but repeating your mistakes shows a high level of stupidity. God doesn't make mistakes and he will do whatever he can to protect his people. Years ago I remember getting a call from a friend of mine who told me that he got a call from a police officer who alleged that a lady was at the police station and she said that he threatened her and he could hear her crying in the background.

As he was about to answer, my friend told me that the police officer that he took to her house overheard the conversation and told her that she was a liar and at no time did the person who drove said anything to her. It was him the police officer that left the message for her. As scripture says, anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.

When people try to tarnish your character, God will protect you. In Isaiah 61 verse 7 it is written, instead of your shame you will receive a double portion and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance and so you will inherit a double portion in your land and everlasting joy will be yours. Heavenly Father, we thank you for destroying the plots and plans of the enemy in Isaiah 54 verse 4 it is written do not be afraid you will not be put to shame do not fear disgrace you will not be humiliated you will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more than reproach of your widowhood.

Lord cover us with your glory and let no shame and dishonor touch our lives. Thank you Lord for destroying the plans of the enemy so that your people will not be a laughing stock and we thank you to deliver us from the consequences of past mistakes that cause shame.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
