Lord, Take Control of Our Anger

Today's devotion, Lord, take control of our anger. Anger teaches us a lot about people because it shows us a side of them that is sometimes hidden. One of the things that I have learned in life is to pay close attention to the things that people will say or do when they get angry. If you ever hear someone who claims to be a Christian who says that they will kill someone or someone who you see as a friend who tells you that they will not give up until they have ruined the life of someone who has double crossed them are red flags that we must never take for granted.
Speaking the truth can make people angry because the truth is an offense but it is not a sin. Jesus was double crossed by Judas but he ended up forgiving him and Judas took his own life. God has a way of exposing the anger that is hidden in someone when you are about to make a very important decision.
It could be to get married or to get into a business relationship with them. Ask God for confirmation when you are going to make decisions and he will show you the signs if you should or should not do it. When you see their anger do not be fooled by their smooth talk or pretty looks.
In Ecclesiastes 7 verse 9 it is written do not be quickly provoked in your spirit for anger resides in the lap of fools. In Proverbs 29 verse 11 it is written a fool gives full vent to his anger but a wise man keeps himself under control. My brothers and sisters in Christ if we cannot exercise self-control the devil will take control of our emotions.
In Proverbs 16 verse 32 it is written better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city. Heavenly Father we thank you for disappointing us when we ask for your guidance because the decision that will hurt us today may bring us joy tomorrow. Lord we also pray for those who are unable to take control of their anger.
I ask you for helping them and taking control of their actions. Give them the strength to control their thoughts and also the wisdom to handle their situation by turning to you for your guidance.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
