Today's Devotion, Lord, protect those who are being abused. Whether it is emotional abuse or it is physical abuse, abuse is abuse. An abusive person will go to extreme lengths to hide their true colors.
If they take away the keys to your vehicle or lock you inside of a room if you have an argument, that's a red flag. If they threaten you and tell you about what they have done to other partners in the past, that's a red flag. God has a way of exposing people before you get deeply involved with them.
The worst decision that you can make is to close your eyes to the things that are obvious and get involved in a relationship that shows you the signs that are dangerous. Some people will stay into an abusive relationship because they feel obligated to the abuser or they fear what they may end up doing to them. Never try to fit into a relationship where there is no commonality because where there is no commonality, you will never find compatibility.
If you are not wise in your choices, you will continue to make decisions that you will regret. God doesn't make mistakes but we do. An abusive person speaks words to make you feel worthless.
They will speak death over their partner's life because of anger. Speaking death over someone can destroy relationships and create deep, long-lasting damage. In Proverbs 3 verse 1 to 4 it is written, My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments, for length of days and long life and peace shall they add to thee.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee, bind them about my neck, write them upon the table of thine heart, so shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Heavenly Father, we pray for those who are in abusive relationships. Lord, we come against every controlling spirit and every Jezebel spirit.
Lord, without your intervention, the victims that are in it are heading down the road of disruption. Be a shield around them on every side. Deliver them out of this abuse and bring them to a place of peace and freedom where they can find peace.
In Isaiah 41 verse 13 it is written, For I hold you by your right hand, I the Lord your God, and I say to you, don't be afraid, for I am here with you. Lord, we pray for those who are going through violence and they are living in fear. O Lord, keep them out of the hands of the wicked and protect them from those who are violent.
Merciful Father, we thank you for your protection because no one can penetrate your armor.
All these we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
