Lord, help us to be a good listener

Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to be a good listener. To be a good listener, you have to know when to be silent. One of the biggest problems with communication is that when someone speaks to us in a loud tone, we sometimes respond to them louder.

Always remember that in Proverbs 15, verse 1 to 3, it is written, A soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright, but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

God uses our ears, our eyes, and our mouth as tools for ministry. But the devil uses them to cause problems and create mischief in the lives of others. God uses our eyes to recognize the needs of those around you.

He uses our ears to learn and uses our mouth to speak words of encouragement, comfort, and truth. The devil uses our eyes as the lamp of the body. It causes greed, violence, or lust, and these can lead us to sin.

He uses our ears to listen to gossip and lies, and he uses our mouth to speak gossip, slander, and lies. We need to ask ourselves this question, What are you using your ears, eyes, and mouth to do, God's work or the devil's work? Behold, your eyes are tools of ministry. Do not allow your tongue to outrun your heart.

When God speaks, listen. You will find that your relationship with Him gets deeper, and your wisdom becomes sharper. Let your speech be the fruit of your listening.

Heavenly Father, in Psalm 85 verse 8 it is written, Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints, but let them not turn back to folly. Lord, help us to do an assessment of the things that we do, and if these things are not pleasing to you, give us the strength to walk away from them, so that we will refrain from doing ungodly things. Lord, help us to be wise in our decisions, so we do not allow our emotions to lead to our destruction.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
