Things that cause God not to answer our prayers

Today's Devotion, Things that cause God not to answer our prayers. There are times when our prayers aren't answered and we feel depressed and we may assume that God has turned his back on us. Before you start entertaining negative thoughts, think about the positive reasons why he is doing it.

God's timing is better than our timing and it may not be the right time. In Isaiah 55 verse 8 to 9 it is written, Doubt and pride can lead to unanswered prayers. Lack of faith affects your relationship with God and doubt can affect your relationship with him in different ways.

In James 1 verse 6 it is written, But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave off the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. The first sin committed in the Bible was Satan's rebellion in heaven. It was driven by pride.

In James 4 verse 6 it is written, Unconfessed sin and having the wrong motives can cause unanswered prayers. In Isaiah 59 verse 2 it is written, But your iniquities have separated you from your God. Your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

And in James 4 verse 3 it is written, When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. Heavenly Father, open our spiritual eyes so that we can see the things that we are doing wrong that is preventing you from answering our prayers. In James 4 verse 2 it is written, You desire but do not have, so you kill, you covet, but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.

You do not have, because you do not ask God. Lord, teach us your way so that we do not allow ignorance to cause us from getting our prayers answered by you. Expose and remove the bad habits that are preventing us from having our prayers becoming our reality.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
