Today's Devotion, Prayer to Control Our Anger. Heavenly Father, there are times when we find ourselves into situations that can cause us to do or say things that can pull us away from you because we cannot control our anger. Lord, I come before you recognizing that I am not perfect. Help me not to do anything that can cause a bad situation to get worse.

In Ephesians 4 verse 26 it is written, In your anger do not sin, do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Remove every wicked thoughts from my mind and give me the strength and wisdom not to be led by my emotions. Give me the patience to be able to walk away from diverse kinds of temptations.

In Proverbs 11 verse 21 it is written, Be sure of this, the wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. Loving God, remove from my heart unforgiveness and teach me always to control my anger even when I am unjustly offended. I call upon you to remove the persons from around me that will influence me to do wrong and increase the flame of my anger and replace them with God-fearing people who will use your words to extinguish my anger so that I do not end up dealing with the consequences.

In James 1 verse 19 it is written, My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this, everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Lord, protect me from the plans of the enemy so that I do not fall into the trap that they have set for me. Lord, I cannot change my attitude on my own.

Please root out from my heart all sinful anger and attitude that is not accepted by you. In Proverbs 12 verse 18 it is written, There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Lord, may the words that I use in my anger are sent by you so that I will not say the wrong things.

Help me to see the consequences of my reckless words so that I will refrain from using them. Let me follow your footsteps. In Psalm 148 verse 5 it is written, The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.

Thank you, Lord, for helping me to overcome anger with my actions and my words.
