Lord, thank you for the spirit of discernment

Today's Devotion, Lord, thank you for the spirit of discernment. Discernment is one of the most important gifts God gives us. Your discernment will offend every person who came with a hidden agenda.

People can act right, talk right, even look like they have the best intentions, but appearances can be deceiving and misleading. Discernment exposes what someone hoped you wouldn't notice. Discernment is the ability to see people and situations clearly.

God has a way of revealing things to you through discernment. He shows you people's true intentions through their actions, not only their words. Do not be fooled by how much they know their Bible and the fact that they may be speaking in tongues.

The devil knows the Bible too, and the same way he deceived Eve, he will deceive you. He directly contradicted God's warning, saying, You will not certainly die. My brothers and sisters in Christ, when something isn't right, God lets you feel it.

When someone's intentions are hidden, he brings clarity, guides you, and keeps you aligned with his will. Discernment has a way of letting you feel uncomfortable when you are around the wrong people. You will go into a room, and they will be revealed without them even saying a word.

In Ephesians 5 verse 6 to 10 it is written, Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore, do not become partners with them, for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true.

And try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the spirit of discernment, because it has opened our eyes to see the wolves in sheep's clothing. Teach me good discernment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

Lord, with the gift of discernment we will not judge people wrongfully, because your wisdom will reveal them to us. Help us to trust you even when things may not be going according to our plans, and give us the wisdom to lean on your understanding.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
