Today's Devotion, Lord, protect us from the spirit of manipulation. One-sided relationships doesn't come with two-side benefits because the person who gives the most is the person who hurts the most. What is to be will be, and if you cannot accept the truth, you will always be deceived by lies.
Where there is no compromise, you will always find contention. A basket is perfect to carry vegetables, but it will never be able to carry running water. Be wise and stop being the basket trying to carry the water because you are wasting your life trying to do something that is impossible.
Beware of the person who is determined to use the basket to carry water. Their kindness comes with obligations. These people have a controlling spirit, and you must always pay attention to their actions.
Be careful of people who force themselves into your life because when things don't go their way, they will do whatever they can to destroy your life. No one who is evil will ever introduce themselves as being evil, and no one who is manipulating will introduce themselves as being manipulating. This is one of the reasons why some people end up in the wrong friendships and the wrong relationships.
They are distracted by the kindness, and they don't have a clue of the wickedness that is hidden deep in the heart of these people. Manipulation stands in direct opposite of the character and nature of God. Deceitful manipulation, emotional manipulation, and spiritual manipulation are ways that people will try and control you.
In Proverbs 26 verse 24 to 26 it is written, Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit. My brothers and sisters in Christ, trying to control someone with selfish motives is evil. This is why the Bible speaks about people who cause division and those who are hot-tempered.
In Jeremiah 9 verse 8 it is written, Their tongue is a deadly arrow, it speaks deceitfully. Heavenly Father, we thank you for opening our ears and our eyes so that we are aware of the controlling spirit in those who are trying to befriend us. Lord, remove them the way that you see best.
In Psalm 52 verse 21 it is written, His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in their hearts. Lord, we thank you for giving us the spirit of discernment so that we can test the spirit to see whether they are from you.
All these we ask, in Jesus name, Amen.
