Today's Devotion, Give thanks in all circumstances. The meteorological service can tell us where the storm will go and even what time it will reach its destination. When we get information beforehand we can prepare for the storm and even though the Bible tells us that Jesus is coming, many of us will not be prepared because his coming doesn't come with a time and a date.
In 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 1 to 3 it is written, Now brothers about times and dates we do not need to write to you for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying peace and destruction will come on them suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman. The God who made the universe is the same God who made the storm.
When God is angry he speaks to us through different catastrophes. The storm gives us notice that it is coming but the earthquake doesn't. God has given us so many second chances and instead of changing for the better some end up changing for the worse.
In Proverbs 4 verse 17 it is written, For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. And in Psalm 34 verse 21 it is written, Evil shall slay the wicked and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. God has allowed the hurricane to affect us in Jamaica so that we can clean up our lives or deal with the consequences of our ungodly actions.
In everything we must give thanks and as bad as it may seem it could be worse. God is angry because contract killing is on the rise. The Jezebel spirit is loose and the relationship killings are also on the increase.
Our children are under attack. Some people are more interested in doing evil to others instead of resolving conflict in a godly way. Scamming is on the rise and many are developing the get rich quick mindset.
God is angry because we have turned a blind eye to his commandments and have changed his laws and are doing things our way. Heavenly Father forgive us for the sins that we have committed. Have mercy on those who have experienced losses in so many ways.
Lord hear our cry and do not release your anger upon us because you are our only hope. Lord you said in your word, if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Father we thank you for your mercy and for giving us for our sins.
Lord we thank you for saving our island from total destruction and we repent for all that we have done so that we can let our lives be right with you.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
