Lord, help us to do the things that are good

Today's devotion, Lord, help us to do the things that are good. Never allow unthankful people to change their mind towards doing good to others. Always remember that some people didn't grow up in families that instill morals and values in their children.

A child who was never grown with kindness and compassion will never see the importance in showing it to others. A child is like a taxi, whatever they pick up at home, they will drop off at school. This can bring joy or embarrassment to their parents.

Some people will only show kindness when they are under the spotlight and some will do it away from the spotlight. Kindness that seeks attention comes with a motive and kindness that doesn't seek attention comes from a genuine and a caring heart. A good person shows respect to everyone but an opportunist will pick and choose who to show respect to.

People with true integrity will never be caught being rude to others who may be less fortunate than them. A person with true integrity will always show up to an obligation. When they say you can count on them for something, you know they will keep their word.

Good people will admit when they are wrong because they do not want to tarnish their character. In Luke 6 verse 45 it is written, A good man out of the treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure in his heart bringeth forth that which is evil. For of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

And in Proverbs 19 verse 17 it is written, Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. My brothers and sisters in Christ, for us to live for God we must be obedient to God. In Luke 12 verse 33 to 34 it is written, Sell your possessions and give to the poor.

Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out a treasure in heaven, that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Heavenly Father, help us to be sellers of your word and also doers of your word.

Lord remove ungratefulness and selfishness from our hearts so that we can help those who are in need because of their circumstances. Give us the wisdom to act rightly, the courage to speak up against wrong, and the integrity to do what is right even when it is hard. Thank you Lord for moving us away from the wrong things so that we can do the right things in order to change the lives of others.
