Reasons Why Our Prayers May Not Be Answered
Today's Devotion, Reasons Why Our Prayers May Not Be Answered. Unanswered prayer can be a blessing in disguise. God may disappoint you in order to protect you. He may see the business venture that you want to start with a friend as something that you should do by yourself.
What you see as today's disappointment, He sees as tomorrow's deliverance. Years ago, I prayed and I asked God to send me persons to help me to do a program called Granny Hotline. And a couple of weeks after, COVID changed everything.
While praying, He told me to do it myself. God saw something that I didn't see. He saw the talent in me that I didn't know that I had.
Unanswered prayers may be God's gift of protection from unintended consequences. God isn't deaf in hearing our prayer. It may be our actions that is preventing us from getting it.
Unconfessed sin may be a reason. In Psalm 66 verse 18 it is written, If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Wrong motives can prevent our prayers from being answered.
Sometimes our prayers are driven by selfish desires rather than a genuine desire to glorify God. In James 4 verse 3 it is written, Lack of faith can lead to unanswered prayers. My brothers and sisters in Christ, faith is a crucial ingredient in prayer.
In Hebrews 11 verse 6 it is written, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. God's timing is important in answering your prayer. Be patient and trust His timing.
In Ecclesiastes 3 verse 11 it is written, What God has done from beginning to end. Unforgiveness, holding grudges, or refusing to forgive others can block your blessing. In Mark 11 verse 25 it is written, And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you of your sin.
Heavenly Father, You do not make mistakes, and there is nothing that we can hide from You. Sometimes we pray for things that don't align with Your will for our lives. In 1 John 5 verse 14 it is written, If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Lord, I pray for those who love to brag and look down on others, those who are self-centered and full of pride. Lord, You know how to let them become humble and change their attitude. God, the closer we get to You is the more we will understand You.
Thank You for answering our prayer when our actions are going according to Your plan for us.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
