Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to focus on the truth. One thing that I have learned when it comes to speaking God's word is that people who tell the truth of God's word will always be hated, even when they find the Bible verses to confirm what they're saying. There's a big difference in hearing what you want to hear instead of hearing what you need to hear.
But those who sugarcoat to appease the flesh are loved. Delivering God's word is not a popularity contest and anyone who hides the truth may be loved by man but hated by God. The Holy Spirit is not for sale and those who use the Holy Spirit to gain financial benefits will feel the wrath of God.
In Acts 8 verse 20 it is written, May your money perish with you because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money. The arms of flesh will fail you, you dare not trust your own. In Jeremiah 17 verse 5 to 8 it is written, Thus saith the Lord, Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whole heart departed from the Lord.
For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land, and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought.
Neither shall cease from yielding fruit. Heavenly Father, let my speech be seasoned with salt, not sugar. Give me the grace to speak the truth in love without compromising my convictions.
For the sake of gaining popularity, thank you, Lord, for opening our eyes to the small sins that we sometimes take for granted, so that we can avoid them and live a life that pleases you.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
