Get your house in order
Today's Devotion, Get your house in order. You cannot get your house in order if your focus is fixed on the wrong things. If you don't see eye to eye with your partner, you will never make the right decisions.
And when you do not make the right decisions, you will always have regrets. In Isaiah 36 verse 1 it is written, In those days Hezekiah became ill, and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, went to him and said, This is what the Lord says, put your house in order, because you are going to die.
You will not recover. King Hezekiah became very ill, and after he heard what prophet Isaiah said, he prayed and wept to God, and God healed him and added 15 years to his life. My brothers and sisters in Christ, in order to get our house in order, it means making things right with God through prayer and repentance.
It also refers to managing your personal responsibilities and resources well. And it is a reminder that our life is short and we should not wait for unforeseen challenges in order for us to fix our priorities. Death doesn't give us a time and a date when it is going to visit, and this is why we should always get our house in order.
Commitment to God doesn't come with contentment with the devil. In 1 Corinthians 13 verse 1 to 3 it is written, If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers and understand all miseries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Heavenly Father, many of us are so busy enjoying the worldly pleasures of life that we don't have time to get our house in order. Some people ignore the warnings, but they find time to indulge in the pleasures.
In John 1 verse 4 to 6 it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We cannot buy our way into heaven or lie our way into heaven.
Lord, we seek your forgiveness and grant us wisdom to see the things that we need to change, protect our household from chaos and division, remove anger and replace it with peace, and give us the strength and not dwell on the past. We come before you to repent and seek your guidance.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
