Today's Devotion, Lord, open our eyes to the sins that we are ignorant of. Before you celebrate over the death of a wicked person, make sure that your life is right with God. The secret sins that are hidden can take you to the same place where the wicked person will end up.
The punishment of the wicked may take long, but whenever it comes, it is swift. In Hosea 4 verse 6 it is written, My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests.
Because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. Lust has the same consequence as wickedness. In 2 Timothy 2 verse 22 it is written, Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Pride has the same consequence as wickedness. In Jeremiah 9 verse 23 to 24 it is written, Let not the wise boast of their wisdom, or the strong boast of their strength, or the rich boast of their riches. But let the one who boasts about this, that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth.
For in these I delight, declares the Lord. My brothers and sisters in Christ, do not take these sins for granted, because they also have the same consequence as wickedness. No trust in God, selfishness, non-repentance, perjury, not loving your neighbor as yourself, but biters, fornication, calling people a fool, are some of the sins that can take you to the same place that wickedness can take you.
In Matthew 5 verse 22 it is written, But I tell you, anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, Rakah, is answerable to the court, and anyone who says you fool will be in danger of the fire of hell. Heavenly Father, help us to find time for your word, and remove the distractions and addictions that we end up giving precedence over reading our Bible.
Lord, set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil, and remove the secret sins that we hide in our heart. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit. Lord, send the right people around us so that we will learn from them.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
