Live to please God
Today's Devotion, Live to please God. Years ago I met someone who had a very powerful spiritual gift. It wasn't until one moment of anger that I realized that we can easily be misled by assuming and not observing. My assumption of that person was wrong and God opened my eyes in that moment when the person was angry and told me exactly what I needed to do.
People will deceive you with their words but they will show you their true colors with their actions. Godly characteristics will always show in those who are true worshippers. Honesty Your word should be fact.
Tell the truth even when it hurts. In Proverbs 28 verse 13 it is written, Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Integrity shows our moral values.
In Proverbs 11 verse 3 it is written, The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perverseness and transgressors shall destroy them. Gratitude teaches us to count our blessings, expect nothing, and be thankful in everything. In James 1 verse 17 it is written, Every good and perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father, off the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, we cannot say that we have godly characteristics and have ungodly habits. A full church does not always mean that the preacher is good and has all the godly characteristics. Some people will sugarcoat God's words just to ensure that they have money in their pocket and they will hide the truth so that the congregation will remain spiritually blind and ignorant of the consequences of living an ungodly life.
In Jeremiah 23 verse 1 it is written, Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pastor, declares the Lord. Heavenly Father, open our eyes that we can observe more and put us around the right people who will put us on the right path. Help us to speak your word and show your characteristics, responsibility, discipline, mercy, kindness, courage.
Teach us to be content with the simple things so that when you elevate us to a higher calling we will continue to remain humble. In 1 John 3 verse 17 it is written, But whoso hath this world's goods, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him. Lord we thank you for teaching us so that we will not allow the devil to mislead us.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
