Lord, give us a heart of compassion

Today's Devotion, Lord, give us a heart of compassion. I recently saw something that got my attention. While leaving a building, I heard a loud noise.
And as I turned to see what happened, I saw a blackbird on the ground. I realized that it flew into the glass on the outside of the building, and it was unconscious. In a couple of minutes, it began moving.
A lady who saw what happened went and took up the bird while she was talking on her phone. She removed the bird and placed it in a safe area so that it would recover. These words came to me after I saw what transpired.
Not because the road may seem to be clear. That doesn't mean that you will not encounter obstacles. Obstacles can hinder us from going forward.
The bird flew into an obstacle, but the lady assisted it to its recovery. Even though obstacles can hit us down, resilience can lift us up. We live in a world where people have become so insensitive that some are more eager to record people in accidents and expose them in their pain than to help them to get to the hospital.
We need to ask ourselves this question, if we should be hit down by an obstacle, would we prefer to be assisted by someone or would we prefer to be recorded by them? In Hebrews 6, verse 10, it is written, God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. And in Matthew 5, verse 16, it is written in the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven, my brothers and sisters in Christ.
In Matthew 7, verse 12, it is written, so in everything do to others what you would have them do to you. For this sums up the law and the prophets. Heavenly Father, please open our eyes so that we can be aware of the things that will please you and the things that won't.
Guide us to be a source of strength for the weak and not to take advantage of their situation. If someone is sick, let us pray for them and help them in whatever way we can. Lord, we thank you for giving us a heart to help others so that our actions will always please you.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
