Lord, take control of our children

Today's Devotion, Lord, take control of our children. Don't expect to receive God's blessings if you are not going to do things God's way.

Parents, if you want your children to draw closer to God, you must lead by example. Give your life to Him so that they can follow in your footsteps. Because people who are spiritually blind cannot give instructions to those who are in need of spiritual guidance.

They will never grow spiritually if you can tell them about the enjoyment in the club but you cannot tell them about the enjoyment you get from worshipping God in the church. What purpose does it serve when you can tell them what it feels like to be drunk but you cannot tell them about the feeling that comes from the anointing when you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit? Teach your children to resolve their problems through prayer and not by using expletives or by violence. If it is possible, make it a point of your duty to know the friends that they associate with.

A friend who is a distraction can lead them to their destruction. Always remember, a child who has their own way will never do things your way. Fashion will change.

Technology will change. People will change. But the consequences that comes from sin will never change.

God warns children to honour their parents with loving hearts of obedience. My brothers and sisters in Christ, mouthy and sarcastic children who demean or belittle their parents' leadership and decision making are clearly on a path to destruction. In Proverbs 19 verse 18 it is written, Discipline your children, for in that there is hope.

Do not be a willing party to their death. And in Proverbs 29 verse 15 it is written, A rod and a reprimand impact wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother. Parents, if you do not use tough love as a means of disciplining your children, the things that you try to cover up privately will be exposed publicly.

Heavenly Father, you said in your word those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them. Lord, we pray for your immediate intervention into the families that are having problems between parents and children.

We are in need of your presence in the lives of those who have turned to crime and violence, those who are disrespectful to their parents, those who are stubborn and irresponsible, those who are addicted to drugs, all because they decided to follow the wrong crowd. Lord, help us not to give up on them, but instead give our problems to you, because without your intervention our situation will eventually become worse. Please touch their hearts and souls so they do not perish in sin.

Direct their path and give them the wisdom to discern between good and bad. Protect them from evil and bring them closer to you. Thank you, Lord, for taking our burdens and taking control of our children.

All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
