Today's Devotion, Lord, help us not to be fooled by changes. The things in life that we want to accomplish require sacrifices. A seed that is planted cannot develop without water because without water it will never bear fruit.
There are times that you may have to let go of old habits because old habits may never be able to give you new ideas. In order for you to be taken to a higher level, you will have to change from an old mindset that may be outdated to a new mindset that is updated. If you are not willing to get out of your comfort zone, do not expect changes.
A cat that dreams of becoming a lion must lose its appetite for rats. In order to achieve greatness, you must let go of old habits that could contribute to holding back your progress. Life doesn't change to suit us.
We have to change in order to fit in, so that we will receive the things that God has in store for us. One of the things that we need to understand whether it be an old mindset or a new mindset is that God must be a part of it. Life is a gift and we should never take it for granted.
God has a way of removing old relationships if he sees it as a hindrance in our spiritual growth because an old friend that will hinder you is just as bad as the devil who will tempt you. In Ephesians 4 verse 22 to 24 it is written, you were taught with regard to your former way of life to put off your old self which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. To be made new in the attitude of your minds and to put on the new self.
Created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. My brothers and sisters in Christ, our changes in life must be pleasing and accepted by God. In Psalm 139 verse 23 it is written, search me God and know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts. Heavenly Father, in every change that we make in our lives, help us not to lean on our own understanding. Help us to develop the habit of seeking your guidance and your confirmation in everything that we do.
Lord we know that the devil is crafty and he is persistent in trying to mislead us in whatever ways that he can. Lord thank you for the spirit of discernment so that we can know right from wrong and give us the wisdom so that we will not yield to temptation.
All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
