God isn't prejudiced, but some of us are.

Today's Devotion, God isn't prejudiced, but some of us are. Prejudice doesn't only come from skin tone. It comes from people who judge you based on where you live, how you dress and sometimes the company that you associate with.

Prejudice can bring out the anger in you or it can expose the humility in you. Years ago, I remember seeing a video of a pastor who was invited to preach at a church. He arrived early and dressed as a beggar and sat down at the gate in front of the church.

The sermon that he was to preach was, do not judge others. People passed him and ignored him when he asked them for money to buy something to eat. The congregation was silent when they saw the beggar approaching the podium.

He then removed the shabby clothes that was covering his suit. There is a big difference when you are delivering a general message to a congregation but when you are sending a message to the congregation because of their attitude, it can hit a nerve. It shows you that it is easier to speak God's words than to live by them.

Prejudice is the child of ignorance but as you get older, you must seek repentance. We live in a world where when someone has on expensive clothes, it will get some people's attention but when they are wearing tattered clothes, it may cause them to get rejection. In 1 Samuel 16 verse 7 it is written, But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart. And in 1 Timothy 5 verse 21 it is written, I charge you in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to keep these instructions without partiality and to do nothing out of favoritism.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, many times we may judge others wrongfully. It may be a situation that they are asking us for direction and we assume that it has to do with financial implications. Heavenly Father, we pray for those who are judged wrongfully because of their financial situation and they are neglected and pushed aside.

Lord, you don't look at our skin tone but many of us do because they assume that once they change their skin color, society will accept them and doors will open for them. God, you care how we treat each other because we are all created in your image. Lord, thank you for removing prejudice from our mind and replacing it with love in our heart so that we will not be biased against anyone.

All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
