Today's Devotion, Lord, open our eyes to the things that can affect our children. As a child growing up I used to enjoy watching an animated adventure called Robin Hood. This was in 1973 and in 2020 a compilation was done on it.
I always thought as a child that Robin Hood was a hero. But as I got older I realized that something was wrong. He would rob from the rich and give to the poor.
And those who were poor would be happy to see him. The blessings of the Lord has made people rich not only financially but by providing all their needs. The agenda of the devil is to kill, steal and destroy.
Robin Hood wasn't a hero. He was an extortionist. Parents, be careful of what you allow your children to watch and the t-shirts that you buy for them to wear.
Many of our children see entertainers as role models and some of these role models promote ungodly things on a catchy rhythm. Some lyrics can lead them into the hands of the devil. Because if you constantly repeat it, it can pull you closer to the devil and further from God.
Always remember that life and death lies in the power of the tongue. There is nothing good in being an extortionist and there is nothing good in chopping the line. In Ezekiel 22 verse 12 it is written, In you have they taken gifts to shed blood.
You have taken usury and increase, and you have greedily gained off your neighbors by extortion. And have forgotten me, said the Lord. And in Ecclesiastes 7 verse 7 to 10 it is written, Extortion turns a wise person into a fool, and a bribe corrupts the heart.
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Do not say, Why were the days better than these? For it is not wise to ask such questions.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, when you pray ask God to remove bad company and negative minded people who are friends with your children. Heavenly Father, we praise you that you are in control of all things. Lord, whatever things that we may not see, that our children may be indulging in, that is not bringing them closer to you, we ask you to destroy it and expose them in the name of Jesus.
Lord, help us to be observant of the things that they watch and the things that they buy, because the devil will do anything that he can to have a negative influence in their lives.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
