Lord, help us to accept the truth
Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to accept the truth. In life there will be some sad truths that we will have to deal with. Regardless of how it will make us feel, it will always be in our best interest to know what they are.
The sad truth is that there are some people who will only be there for you when you have something they need. When you no longer serve a purpose to them, they will leave. A thirsty man will never go to an empty well.
And someone who is in need of financial assistance will never go to a pauper. The sad truth is that if you use evil to fight evil, the devil will win either way. But once you use good to fight evil, good will always be victorious.
In Romans 12 verse 21 it is written Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. And in 1 Peter 3 verse 9 it is written Do not repay evil with evil, or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessings.
Because to this you were called so, that you may inherit a blessing. The sad truth is that there will be a time in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroad. And we will have to make a decision.
We will have to decide if we should continue living in sin or we should commit our lives to God. In Psalm 51 verse 5 to 6 it is written Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part.
Thou shalt make me to know wisdom. And in Matthew 6 verse 24 it is written No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and money, my brothers and sisters in Christ. Commitment comes with sacrifice. We cannot say that we love God in the day and continue having a relationship with the devil in the night, Heavenly Father.
Many times we find ourselves in two frames of mind. And we are influenced to do the things that are not pleasing to you. Lord, remove every bad influence from our lives because bad influence not only corrupt good morals, it can also lead us down the road to destruction.
Lord, open our eyes and our minds so that we can see the hidden truth that comes from the pleasure of sin. Lord, you will never compromise with the devil, and we should never believe that it is acceptable to you living in sin and expecting your blessings. Thank you, Lord, for opening our eyes to the sad truth that is protecting us from living in sin.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
