Today's devotion, Lord, have mercy. Lord as we brace for the hurricane, we ask you for your mercy. You have warned us many times and instead of changing for the better, we have changed for the worse.
The contract killings, the raping and killing of our children, family fighting against family, people resorting to obey to destroy the lives of others, the gossiping and biting in our churches that has caused many to leave the church, the scamming and the songs that are played that makes bad seems good, and when God fearing people speak about it, they are chastised and laughed at. You have shown us dreams about what is to happen, but instead of praying about what we have seen in our dream, we go out and buy a cash pot. The embezzlement, the greed and the selfishness that we have resorted to and the secret societies that we have become members of have all contributed to your anger.
We have done so many things that are not pleasing to you and now we are begging you. We are begging you. We are begging you for your mercy.
In Proverbs 34 verse 13 it is written, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. Lord, many people are in prison right now because of the lies that have been told about them and you are angry. In Psalm 103 verse 8 it is written, the Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Lord, we have pushed you to the limit where you are angry and now we are begging you for your mercy. Merciful Father, we come before you seeking your forgiveness for the things that we have done that has contributed to your anger. Lord, only you know what the outcome will be.
Some people will give their lives to you and some will continue living in sin but we are begging for your mercy. Have mercy on us, O God, according to your unfailing love. In 2 Peter 3 verse 9 it is written, the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness.
Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. Lord, have mercy upon us.
All these we ask. In Jesus' name, Amen.
