Unforgiveness Prevents You From Following Jesus

Today's Devotion, Unforgiveness Prevents You From Following Jesus. Years ago I went to a business place and I had to use my credit card. I told the manager to take everything from my credit card as I didn't have any cash on me at the time. I eventually had a difference with the worker who I was sent to and he showed me his fingers in the shape of a gun.

I wasn't scared because I know the power of the God that I serve. I ended up returning to the business place a couple weeks after and I was shown a picture of the worker who threatened me on a hospital bed. There were steel plates over his legs with bolts holding his legs together.

As soon as I saw the picture, God told me to pray for him. I sent the prayer to him and his response touched my heart in a way I cannot explain. Many of us want to follow Jesus but because of unforgiveness we change our journey.

Jesus treated Judas so well that none of his disciples detected that it was Judas who would betray him. This is how well God wants us to love our enemies. Being a follower of Christ may not give you the ability to walk on water but always remember that he keeps his word.

In Joshua 1 verse 9 it is written, Have I not commanded you, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Being a follower of Jesus doesn't give you the privilege of rejoicing when your enemy is suffering.

It doesn't make you immune to pain or hardship. It makes you willing and obedient to help the Judases that is in your life. Heavenly Father, I confess to you my struggles to forgive those who have hurt me, the hypocrites, the gossipers, the backbiters, and those who have recruited people to hate me all because of jealousy.

Lord, remove every wicked thought from my mind against them, and even though they have not apologized, give me the strength to forgive them.

All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
