Beware of Strings Attached

Today's devotion, Beware of Strings Attached. Giving help to someone should come with no strings attached, because once kindness comes with strings attached, it may come in the form of obligation, manipulation, or hidden agenda. Anything that is hidden is not genuine, and anything that is not genuine is not of God. Promotion that comes with strings attached may lead to demotion once someone doesn't agree with the terms and conditions that comes with it.
Strings can tie you into a situation that can make you feel uncomfortable. People who are helping someone and they are expecting something in return they are doing business, not kindness. God told us to feed our enemies.
He didn't tell us to make them starve because of the differences that we may have with them. In Proverbs 25 verse 21 to 22 it is written, If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
In doing this, you will keep burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you, my brothers and sisters in Christ. There are some people who will reward those who do wickedness, not kindness. Those who have strings attached to the wicked may end up being obligated to them for the rest of their life.
God allows us to make choices and it is through our choices we can get closer to him or we can drift away from him. Even the wicked benefit from God's kindness. Heavenly Father, in Matthew 5 verse 45 it is written, That you may be children of your Father in heaven.
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Lord, help us to show an attitude of gratitude for the kindness that we get from others and open our spiritual eyes to those whose kindness comes with strings attached. Lord, their motives are not of you and their strings are attached to the plans of the devil.
Thank you, Lord, for your wisdom and discernment so that we are not pulled into their deceptive plans.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
