Lord, teach us when to walk away

Today's devotion, Lord, teach us when to walk away. I have learnt that things don't always turn out the way that we want it to be. Our passion may not lead us to the job that is the source of our breakthrough.

Our passion may not get God's approval. And what we want may not be what He wants for us. Sometimes we may have to end up walking away from what we desire so that He can lead us to fulfill our purpose.

Walking away from your passion is hard. And being obedient is the only way that you can receive His blessing that can lead to your breakthrough. You may end up with distractions.

And if you are not careful, your distraction can come with an ultimatum. Don't be afraid of losing someone to fulfill God's purpose because He can replace good with better. And He can also replace better with best.

Once you realize that you deserve a bright future, there is nothing that someone cannot provide that God cannot replace. In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past. But God has things that are put aside for you as you go towards the future.

You cannot hold on to something or someone that God wants you to walk away from. Walking away can give you peace of mind. And holding on can put you on the road to regret.

In 1 Timothy 6 verse 11 to 12 it is written, But you, man of God, flee from all this and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many weaknesses.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, we must avoid worldly distractions because these things will hinder you from your breakthrough. Heavenly Father, there are times that we have made decisions that stagnate our spiritual growth. Instead of walking away, we hold on to the things that are not a part of your plan for us.

Lord, help us to be driven by you and not by our emotions. Give us the courage to do things your way and not our way so that we do not unknowingly affect our breakthrough.

All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
