Today's Devotion, Lord, remove the spirit of assumption. The trials of today will not last forever. God is turning your pain into purpose and your struggles into testimonies.
There will be times when you are trying to uplift someone with words of encouragement and no matter what you do or say, it seems to be falling on deaf ears. Some people assume that if they give their lives to God, their trials and tribulations should disappear within the blink of an eye. This is caused by spiritual ignorance because they do not know the word of God.
Why should Jesus go through challenges and we should assume that our life should be smooth? This type of mindset can also come from prosperity preaching. Prosperity preaching tells you what you can get, but it will never tell you what you will have to lose in order to get it. God's blessing comes through disappointment, long-suffering, swallowing your pride and forgiving people who you once hated, to name a few.
Trials are likened to fire that refines faith, making it more precious than gold. Disappointment can be a blessing in disguise because God will use it to protect you in many ways. Swallowing your pride won't kill you, but burying it in your heart can hamper your spiritual growth.
When someone rejects your words of encouragement, leave them alone. In Matthew 10 verse 14 it is written, If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. My brothers and sisters in Christ, it is better to suffer for doing good than to be happy doing wickedness because there is nothing that we can hide from God.
In 1 Peter 3 verse 17 it is written, For it is better if it is God's will to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. Heavenly Father, we pray for those who refuse to take advice. Lord, I know that the spirit of stubbornness is active and is the work of the devil.
And I know that my advice to them is limited, but your wisdom is perfect. Bring people across their path who can speak truth into their lives and protect them from the pitfalls of pride and stubbornness. Because with you, Lord, all things are possible.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
