Today's devotion. God knows our secret sins. We can keep secrets from our family, our friends, and our partners. But we can't keep secrets from God. Secret sins have not so secret consequences. Self-Assessment is very important for our spiritual development. Do not be eager to point out the sins of others before you go out of your way to scandal them. Pray for them. Worry about your own sins because God will not be asking you about the secret sins of others.
God knows about the secrets that are hidden in places that others may never find. It is better to be honest with ourselves and others because anger has a way of defaming character, especially when you tell your secret to the wrong people. Secret sins have destroyed marriages. When a man finds out that he is not the biological father of the children that he has taken care of since birth, secret sins have caused people to lose their jobs when their bogus degrees are exposed. It is not a blessing if you had to get it from sin. Secret sin can cause embarrassment from embezzlement.
God's silence does not mean that he condones it. He is waiting for the perfect time to expose it. Even though some people believe that it was okay for Robinhood to steal from the rich and give to the poor, he was still a thief. The sins that seem most sweet in life will prove most bitter in death. My brothers and sisters in Christ, confess your secret sins to God. In numbers thirty two, verse twenty three. It is written, but if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out. In Isaiah twenty nine verse fifteen, it is written, who to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord, and whose deeds are done in a dark place, and they say, who sees us or who knows us? And in Ephesians five verse twelve, it is written, for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
Heavenly father, That have mercy on us for the sins that we do secretly, no matter how small it may be. Sin is sin and wrong is wrong. Merciful and all knowing God, we come before you with humble hearts, asking for your divine forgiveness for all our secret faults. In John three verse twenty, it is written. For everyone who does evil hate the light, and does not come to the light, for fear that his deeds will be exposed. Help us, Lord, to walk away from the wrong things, so that we can do the right things that will please you.
All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
