Today's devotion, Beware of the Spirit of Stubbornness and the Spirit of Control. There is a big difference between determination and stubbornness. Once you are determined to do something, you will make sacrifices in order to achieve it. But once you are stubborn not to do something, regardless of the consequences, you will be prepared to deal with it.
Stubbornness Once you are determined to follow Jesus, no demon in hell can let you change your mind. There is nothing good in being stubborn. Stubbornness will let you cut off your nose to spite your face.
It can prevent you from apologizing, forgiving, and repenting, all because of pride. Stubbornness can let you do things your way and not God's way. Stubbornness opens the door to your destruction, and pride is the carbon monoxide of sin.
It silently and slowly kills you without you even knowing. My brothers and sisters in Christ, be determined, not stubborn. Determination is positive, and it will allow you to change your mind when necessary.
But stubbornness is negative, and it comes with a closed mind and a refusal to budge. No matter how deep oil falls in love with water, they will never be able to mix. Pride and stubbornness are like peas in a pod.
But when a stubborn person befriends a controlling person, this is a recipe for disaster. In Proverbs 29 verse 1 it is written, A man who is stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed without remedy. Stubbornness is often seen as a trait that can lead to a hard heart, unwillingness to listen, and disobedience to God.
In Proverbs 28 verse 14 it is written, Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble. Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus we come before you to pray against every controlling spirit and the spirit of stubbornness. Lord, we call for your immediate intervention, because where there is no room for compromise, you will always have chaos.
Lord, help those who are under the influence of these spirits, because one wants to dominate and the other does not want to cooperate. Lord, take authority over every spirit of control and over every spirit of stubbornness, because they can kill relationships and destroy friendships. Thank you, Lord, for opening the eyes of those who are spiritually blind, so that they will repent and change their mindset.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
