Hurtful words have serious consequences

Today's Devotion, Hurtful words have serious consequences. Hurtful words can have permanent damage. This is why you should not say something permanently hurtful just because you are temporarily upset.

Hurtful words can stay with you for the rest of your life, all because of who said it. Some people will allow a bad mood to let them say something that is hidden deep in their heart. Hurtful words can cause someone to isolate themselves from others.

And it can also lead someone to commit suicide. The tongue has no bones, but it is strong enough to break hearts. It can destroy families and create malice in friendships.

God can heal invisible and visible pain. Let God handle vengeance. In Romans 12, verse 17 to 21, it is written, Do not repay anyone evil for evil.

Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath.

For, it is written, It is mine to avenge, I will repay, says the Lord. On the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. My brothers and sisters in Christ, the worst people to be around when someone tells you hurtful words are people who will give you gasoline to throw on the fire.

It's like going to the devil and expect to be comforted. Trust in the Lord and avoid bad influence. In Psalm 37, verse 5, it is written, Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will do this.

Heavenly Father, it is difficult not to be offended by words, especially when the words are spoken by someone who you have helped in many ways. I bring the pain of these words to you. Give me the strength to forgive, and place your healing hand over my heart, my mind, and my emotions so that I can forgive the person who spoke them.

Shield my spirit from negativity, and let your peace take control of me.

All these I ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
