Lord, help us not to lose focus

Today's Devotion, Lord, help us not to lose focus. Impress people with your soul, not with the things that you have. The lion doesn't need to impress anyone by showing them that he's the king of the jungle, because he knows when to roar and he knows when to be silent.

Stop being impressed by people who can quote scripture. Be impressed by those who live by the scriptures that they quote. Some people only memorize the scriptures that shows you when they are right, but they will avoid the scriptures that reveals to them when they are wrong.

Stop being reluctant to go to church because of people who speak God's words, but they refrain from doing God's deed. He will not judge you for their sin. If you are going to make someone use you, let it be God.

Stop finding excuses when you should be seeking God. We should hate our sins more than we hate other people's sin. In 2 Corinthians 13 verse 5 it is written, Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.

Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Unless, of course, you fail the test. Jesus was led by the Spirit to go into the desert to be tempted, and he fasted 40 days and 40 nights.

Yet we sing the song, I have decided to follow Jesus, and we cannot put aside our phones for 40 hours. We live in a world that prices increase because of inflation, but always remember that salvation is free. To be in alignment with God's expectation, we must go through a process of refinement.

When the weatherman tells you that a storm is coming, everyone panics, but when the preacher tells you that God is coming, it falls on deaf ears. When God wants to get our attention, he sends a disaster, but when the devil wants to get our attention, he blinds us to the consequences that come from our sins. Heavenly Father, we call upon you to strengthen our faith and open the eyes of those who are so blinded by sin that they end up going deeper in it.

We pray for the parents who are going through turmoil with their children, all because of their disobedience. Lord, increase their faith so that they will pray until something happens and not throw in the towel and leave them to be destroyed by the devil. You said in your word, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us the strength and thank you for your mercy.

All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
