Beware of stubbornness

Today's Devotion, Beware of stubbornness. There will be times when you may do things that is not pleasing to God, regardless of what have caused it to happen. The only way that it can be resolved is by taking it to God and seek repentance from Him.

Repentance is not when you cry. Repentance is when you change. When we sin, we turn away from God.

When we repent, we turn back towards God. Stubbornness can influence unrepentance. When confronted with error, a stubborn person chooses pride over humility, blocking the self-reflection needed for repentance.

A stiff-necked attitude turns into a hardened, unrepentant heart that stores up guilt or judgment rather than seeking forgiveness. In Jeremiah 7 verse 24 it is written, But they did not listen or pay attention, instead they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

And in Proverbs 29 verse 1 it is written, A man who remains stiff-necked after much reproof will suddenly be shattered beyond recovery. My brothers and sisters in Christ, being stubborn to man and being stubborn to God are two different things. One may lead to arguments and strained relationships and the other has serious consequences.

In Romans 2 verse 5 it is written, But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath when His righteous judgment will be revealed. Heavenly Father, I come before you today in humble repentance. Lord help us to remove stubbornness from our heart and help us to turn away from these sins completely with a resolve to avoid them in the future.

In 2 Corinthians 7 verse 10 it is written, Godly sorrow brings repentance and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. Lord, remove our pride and stubbornness and empower us with the strength to flee from temptation and let our heart find its true satisfaction in you alone.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
