Know when to be silent

Today's Devotion, Know when to be silent. A honest answer is a sign of a true friendship, but for those who do not like to hear the truth, your silence should be the best response. Silence is a powerful form of communication and it prevents you from being pulled into conversations that can create problems.

It's a refusal to participate in a situation that can make a bad position worse. Sometimes caring means confronting, but if you do not have tact, it's better to be silent. When you are on the verge of saying something to hurt someone, silence can prevent the pain.

There are times not saying anything is the best answer because silence can never be misquoted. When things are working out in your favor and your life is changing in a positive way, be careful because in sharing it, you may be increasing your enemies without even knowing it because you will never know how jealous people can be until when God begins to bless you. In Proverbs 13, verse three, it is written, those who guard their lips preserve their lives.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, you know you're true friends when you allow God to choose them for you. There are times when you must be prepared to break the silence. In Proverbs 31, verse eight to nine, it is written, speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

Speak up and judge fairly. Defend the rights of the poor and needy. And in Ezekiel 24, verse 27, it is written, at that time, your mouth will be opened.

You will speak with him and will no longer be silent. So you will be assigned to them and they will know that I am the Lord. Heavenly Father, give us the wisdom when to be silent and when to speak.

Lord, teach us to be still and to know that you are God. Help us to be disciplined so that we are not led by our emotions, but we are led by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

All these we ask in Jesus' name, amen.
