Today's Devotion, The importance of having a relationship with God. The best thing that we can do as believers is having a relationship with God. He knows when we are opportunistic and He knows when we are righteous.
The importance of having a relationship with God can lead and guide you through life to fulfill the plans and purpose of our lives. Having a relationship with God increases your faith in Him. It prevents you from telling lies and directs you to tell the truth.
In Proverbs 12 verse 22 it is written, The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy. The master of lies is the devil, and if you are a liar, you have sinned against God, and you are building a relationship with the devil. In John 8 verse 44 it is written, You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. My brothers and sisters in Christ, be wise and be obedient to God's requests, because the lies that you tell today may end up being your reality tomorrow.
Your disobedience will come with a consequence. In Proverbs 13 verse 5 it is written, The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked make themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves. Having a relationship with God gives you the resilience to weather your storm.
You will see what God will do. He will put you in a battle to show you that you are capable of dealing with it. In Isaiah 43 verse 2 it is written, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze. Having a relationship with God gives you inner peace. He teaches us that how we deal with others will eventually come back to us.
Heavenly Father, you said in your word in Matthew 5 verse 7, Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Lord, if we do not show mercy to others, you may not show mercy to us. Help us to be obedient to your requests.
Search me God, and know my heart. Test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
All these we ask, in Jesus name, Amen.
