Lord, help us to face our disappointments.

Today's devotion, Lord, help us to face our disappointments. Disappointment is a part of life and there are times when things won't always go our way. Limit your expectations because the world is full of disappointments.

One of the things that I have learned is that disappointment serves its purpose whenever God disappoints us. A failed relationship that you have prayed about, a house that you didn't get, a job that you had your eyes on that was given to someone else are disappointments that may not be easy to get over. God will delay you not because he wants to hurt you.

Trust in him and lean not on your own understanding. The failed relationship may be his way of protecting you from an unfaithful partner. The house that you didn't get may be his way of protecting you from a cantankerous neighbor.

And the job may be his way of giving it to someone who is carrying the financial burden of their entire family. I remember once God disappointed me and I was upset and I put it to him through prayer. God revealed to me about a year after and I clearly remember him saying, this is the reason why I didn't give you what you wanted because you deserve better.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, give thanks when you are disappointed because he may be protecting you and you don't even know it. In Colossians 3 verse 23 to 25 it is written, Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ for the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done and there is no partiality.

Do not complain when you are disappointed. Pray about your situation. In Matthew 6 verse 6 it is written, But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Heavenly Father, there will be times when our disappointment may lead to our depression. Help us Lord not to put our faith in people who don't always have the best intentions for us. Lord, help us to guard our heart against discouragement, broken plans, and the things that we invested in that didn't materialize.

Where there is life there is hope and prayer can replace what we have lost but murmuring and complaining can lead us to our destruction. Help us to trust your perfect timing and replace our discouragement with hope and align our desires with your will.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
