Beware of Hidden Jealousy

Today's Devotion, Beware of Hidden Jealousy. Unlike open jealousy, which is hostile, hidden jealousy often manifests through subtle passive aggressive actions and backhanded compliments, making it difficult to detect. Once someone is openly jealous, we will avoid them, but someone who is good at hiding their jealousy, we may end up confiding in them and sharing personal information with them.

It's dangerous to have jealous people around you and you assume that they won't harm you. They look at you as competition while you look at them as family or friends. Jealous people will count your blessing, but they will envy you for every one of them that they count.

Great minds see your talent or your accomplishments as an asset, but a jealous mind sees your accomplishments as overshadowing their spotlight. Jealousy is evil. It ruins not only relationships, but a good character.

Hidden jealousy can be easily detected once you have the spirit of discernment. The spirit of discernment is a gift from the Holy Spirit and it helps believers to understand whether a message is aligned with God's will. In Hebrews 5 verse 13 to 14 it is written, Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. My brothers and sisters in Christ, laziness kills ambition and jealousy kills people. It was because of jealousy and envy that caused Cain to kill his brother Abel.

In Galatians 5 verse 26 it is written, Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. And in James 4 verse 2 to 3 it is written, You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.

You do not have but you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the blessing that you have bestowed upon us.

Help us not to be jealous of the gifts that someone else has and the things that they have accomplished. Help us to rejoice and celebrate the success of our family and friends and remove whatever jealousy that is hidden deep in our heart.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
