Lord, Increase Our Tolerance in Uncomfortable Situations
Today's Devotion, Lord, Increase Our Tolerance in Uncomfortable Situations. It is difficult to tolerate certain situations and people, but always remember that tolerance is a form of virtue. Your capacity to end your pain and hardships will be noticed by God. Having a neighbor who loves to play music loud or loves to burn rubbish when you have just finished washing your laundry and put them on the line can be very disturbing.
God honors the sacrifice and effort you put to remain quiet in the most uncomfortable and intolerable circumstances. Your endurance through pain is honored by God. Tolerance is accepting people as they are.
Tolerance is working with someone who you don't see eye to eye with. Tolerating the bad habits of someone doesn't mean that you accept it by condoning with it. This is when you are able to know that God will give you the strength to deal with your situation.
It's when you are able to focus on better in order to prevent bitter. Tolerance is not lowering your standards. It is your ability to focus on keeping your boundaries.
God knows what you are going through. He isn't blind to your situation. In Revelation 2 verse 2 it is written, I know your works, your toll and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not and found them to be false.
And in Matthew 7 verse 6 it is written, Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you. Heavenly Father, we ask for your gift of patience and tolerance to fill our heart so that we do not allow our words and our actions to cause us to sin. Help us, Lord, to set aside our feelings of anger and frustration, especially when things don't go as planned.
Help us to accept burdens with grace and trust that your plans are always the best. No matter how unbearable the situation may seem, with you all things are possible, and you can change our situation within the blink of an eye. Thank you, Lord, for the perseverance that you have given to us in order to overcome our situation.
All these we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
