Lord, remove the spirit of lukewarmness from us

Today's Devotion Lord, remove the spirit of lukewarmness from us. You cannot have the characteristics of a lukewarm Christian and stand up against spiritual warfare. Lukewarm means neither hot nor cold.

They're sitting on the premises but they are not standing on the promises of the Lord Jesus. You become a lukewarm Christian when you allow your love of God to fade. A lukewarm church aids the agenda of the enemy without even knowing it.

There is no passion behind their worship. You cannot be committed to God and you are willing to compromise with the devil. Lukewarm Christians only come to God when they have a problem.

They don't obey the word of God and even try to twist the scripture to justify sin. They only want to be a Christian because they're afraid of hell. You cannot be a true believer if you only worship on Sundays but you spend six days enjoying sin.

They care more of what others think rather than the Lord. And their favorite words are do not judge. In Isaiah 29 verse 13 it is written The Lord says Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

In 2 Timothy 4 verse 3 to 4 it is written They will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. In Titus 1 verse 16 it is written They are detestable, disobedient and unfit of doing anything good.

Heavenly Father we come against lukewarmness in the church. Lord create in me a new heart and renew a right spirit within me. Restore my hunger for your word and my thirst for your Holy Spirit.

Give us the strength to fight against the spirit of indifference and the sin of compromise so that we can resist the devil and remain faithful to you. Help us Lord to be true to ourselves so that we can break up or follow ground so that we can give our lives wholly and solely to you. Help us not to enjoy sin secretly and stand on your word publicly because compromising with the devil will send us to hell.
