Today's Devotion, Lord, protect us from opportunistic people. A spiritual opportunist is someone who exploits spiritual ideas, religious beliefs, or positions of faith for selfish motives, personal gain, or to gain power over others. Spiritual opportunists will find time for those who can help them, but they are always busy for those who are in need of their help.
Opportunists are opportunists whether they are spiritual or physical. Their motives are similar whether they are in the church or out of the church, and none of them will find favor with God once their attitude remains the same. We cannot expect God to supply our needs if we are manipulating and taking advantage of others.
In Deuteronomy 16 verse 19 it is written, Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent. God will send people to provide for you in whatever way that he sees that you need help, but he will never send people to manipulate you for their personal gain.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, in a world of takers be a giver. In Leviticus 25 verse 17 it is written, Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the Lord your God.
And in Proverbs 11 verse 25 it is written, Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. Those who are generous will prosper, but those who take advantage of others will feel the wrath of God. Stop manipulating people to supply your needs and find favor with God to do it, because he will supply all your needs.
In Matthew 6 verse 25 it is written, Therefore I tell you, Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Heavenly Father, you are our provider, our problem solver, and our burden bearer. Help us to examine ourselves and if we have an ounce of any opportunistic way in our heart, we ask you to remove it, because taking advantage of others can block our blessing.
In Proverbs 3 verse 27 it is written, Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is your power to do it. Holy Spirit, expose those who are spiritual opportunists, who are taking advantage of your people. Lord, reveal them and let their plans fail, because they are looking for self-gain by manipulating your people.
Lord, we thank you for protecting your people by removing those who are manipulating them.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
